2/3 at Smithville 72, Chillicothe 68 Double Overtime
(Conference)
The Chillicothe Hornets lost a heartbreaker at Smithville 72-68 in
double-overtime in a conference game. Chillicothe led with seconds
left in regulation, but a call for grabbing a jersey gave Smithville
free throws with less than a second left to tie the game.
Chillicothe had a chance to win at the end of the first overtime but
a well-defended Hornets lay up attempt was no good and no foul was
called despite contact. In the second overtime, a Smithville trey
midway thru the period gave the Warriors a three point lead that
Chillicothe couldn’t overcome.

2/13 at Savannah 51, Chillicothe 49 (Conference Game)
Chillicothe had some last second heroics but it wasn't quite enough
win, losing at Savannah 51-49. Alex Singleton hit three straight
treys in the fourth quarter to close the game to just one point with
2.7 seconds left. A Hornets foul before the ball was in play sent
Savannah to the line. After making the first shot, Savannah missed
the second. The Hornets grabbed the rebound but a half court shot
careened off the glass, ending the game. Savannah hit the first nine
points of the contest and led the entire game. The Savages' zone
defense and low post play force Chillicothe to shoot from the
outside, going 9 of 23 from behind the arc for the game.

Chillicothe 58, Cameron 52 (Conference Game)
Cameron's 6'4" Sophomore Drew Hatten hit a three pointer to start
the game, but it would be Cameron's only lead as the Hornets upset
the Dragons 58-52 before a large Senior Night crowd at Chillicothe.
Hatten provided the only offensive punch in the first half for
Cameron, scoring their first 11 points and 13 of their 19 first half
points. Chillicothe went on a 10-0 run in the first quarter to build
a 12 point lead and Cameron could never recover, closing it to five
points briefly in the fourth quarter. Chillicothe secured the game
with a 14-of-17 performance from the Free Throw line in the fourth
quarter.
The Hornets win was their first over Cameron since Jan.
15th 2004, snapping an 8-game skid against the Dragons. Chillicothe
heads to Savannah for the opening of Districts on Tuesday at 5:30

2/24 at Savannah 45, Chillicothe 44 (Districts)
A record
setting performance was overshadowed by a bizarre ending that gave
Savannah a 45-44 win over Chillicothe in a district game in
Savannah. Colin Parker hit his fourth trey of the game in the third
quarter, giving him the school single-season 3-point record with 58
treys. However, it was a 9-1 run by Savannah in the final 40 seconds
that cost Chillicothe the game.
Down by 7, Savannah’s Travis Partridge hit a shot with
40 seconds left and was fouled, narrowing the lead to five.
Partridge missed the free throw but got the rebound and stick-back,
closing it to three points. Savannah forced a Chillicothe back court
turnover, then in-bounded the ball to Partridge who made another
shot with 19 seconds left to close the game to 1 point. With six
seconds left, Savannah was whistled for fouling Colin Parker;
however Parker was also immediately hit with a technical foul.
Parker hit one free throw to make it a two point game then Partridge
hit one of two technical free throws to make it a one point game
again. Savannah in-bounded the ball off the technical, and Partridge
hit a shot with half a second left to give the Savages the win
thanks to nine Partridge points and two late officials whistles
against Chillicothe.
