12/1 at Chillicothe 44, St Joseph Lafayette 41
Chillicothe held off a second half comeback attempt to beat St Joseph Lafayette 44-41 in the season opener at Chillicothe High School. The Lady Hornets went on an 11-0 run in the 1st quarter and led by as many as 14 points in the second quarter. A reenergized Lafayette team played a strong third quarter to pull to with-in two points by the end of the third quarter.
Lafayette had a chance at sending the game into overtime, but a baseline left three point attempt didn't connect at the buzzer. Chillicothe coach Karen Jackson said it was a typical season opening game for a young an inexperienced Lady Hornets team that features just one senior and only one player saw significant playing time last season.
