Maryville used a strong inside game and timely outside
shooting to beat Chillicothe by 21 points. Chillicothe scored
first but it would be several minutes before the Hornets found
the scoring mark again.
Trailing by 10 early in the 2nd quarter, Chillicothe
closed the game to just two points late in the first half but
a Tyler Walter rushed, awkward trey at the buzzer gave
Maryville a five point lead and snuffed out Chillicothe's
momentum.
The Hornets trailed by 13 in the third quarter before
closing it to nine late in the quarter. Maryville again fired
a rushed trey at the buzzer that drew net and gave them a 12
point lead going into the fourth quarter. Chillicothe closed
the fourth quarter gap to 10 once but could get no closer.
Chillicothe had trouble defending Maryville's Adam
Thompson, an all-state football offensive lineman that fired
in 20 points for the Spoofhounds. Maryville sunk six treys,
while Chillicothe only shot two, both from reserves in the
final minute. |
