A strong
first quarter helped
Chillicothe
win their second straight game in as many days, beating Lawson
55-45 to win the consolation trophy of the Cameron Tournament.
Lawson's Marcus Hales started the game with a trey in the
opening seconds, but Chillicothe answered with a 20-0 run and
led 20-5 after the first quarter.
Chillicothe held the 15 point lead at the half and built
it to 22 late in the 3rd quarter. Chillicothe led
by 21 in the fourth quarter when Lawson, led by Sophomore
Garrison Green, started picking away at the lead. The
Cardinals closed the game to 8 in the final seconds but could
not get closer.
Chillicothe got help from Bryce Young at the free throw
line. The Hornets Senior went 12 of 12 at the charity stripe
to go with two treys and three buckets to finish with 24
points. Brett Stephens also had a break out game with 11
points and 3 of four at the charity line.
With the win, Chillicothe finishes 5th in the
tournament after being seeded 8th. It also marks the first
time this season the Hornets have won back to back games.
