Chillicothe battled through fouls and a sluggish third quarter
but came up short, losing at St Joseph Lafayette's Senior
Night 66-55. Each team was whistled for 21 fouls and one
technical foul in the game.
Chillicothe was tied after one quarter and down by just
five at the half, however the Hornets were outscored 18-9 in
the third quarter. Then, things really turned wild.
The Hornets were late coming out of the huddle to start
the fourth quarter, so the officials started the fourth
quarter with out them, giving Lafayette an easy bucket.
Chillicothe protested which led to a technical foul, giving
Lafayette two free throws and an 18 point lead.
The weirdness, however, was not done. Less than two
minutes later, coming out of a time out, Lafayette came onto
the floor with six players, giving them a technical foul.
Chillicothe's Bryce Young sunk the free throws as part of a
9-0 run. Chillicothe pulled with in eight points following
Zach Douglas' second trey of the quarter, but the Hornets
could get no closer.
Lafayette was led by Taylor Deayon with 23 points
before fouling out and Tim Nelson who had 13 of his 20 points
in the fourth quarter. With the win, Lafayette secured at
least a share of the conference title, with only Smithville
standing between the Irish and an undefeated conference crown.
