Smithville
scored the first 11 points of the game and rolled over
Chillicothe in the district tournament opener. It marked the
third straight year Chillicothe lost their district opening
game.
The Hornets closed the game to six points in the first
quarter, but then went more than 14 minutes with out a field
goal. Smithville led by double figures most of the last three
quarters, leading by as many as 33 points in the final
quarter.
The Hornets end the season at 8-16, one win fewer than
2009 and the fifth straight losing season for the Boys
Basketball program. This marks the first time the Hornets have
had five straight losing basketball seasons in a row since
1930-35, when they had six losing seasons.
