three point shooting by Benton
early in the game and poor free throw shooting by
Chillicothe
equaled a 52-45 season opening St Joseph Benton win over the
Chillicothe Hornets.
Benton’s
Austin Parrot hit two early treys to help build a 10 point
lead late in the 1st quarter. Chillicothe ended the
1st quarter with a bucket to start a 13-2 run that
went until late in the 1st half.
Chillicothe
coach Matt Brownsberger said his team did a nice job of coming
back in the 2nd quarter, but poor free throw
shooting hurt his team. He stated the boys played hard, but
couldn't finish some key possessions.
Benton
ended the half with two buckets to lead 23-20.
Chillicothe
took a one point lead again early in the 3rd
quarter but couldn’t hold it and trailed by a dozen midway
thru the fourth quarter. The non-conference game was the
season opener for both teams.
