Lafayette put together an 11-0 run midway thru the 2nd quarter
and downed Chillicothe in a non-conference game. The game was
halted early in the 4th quarter when Lafayette's Taylor Deayon
posted up on Chillicothe's Bryce Young after driving across
the lane and under the basket. Deayon went up in an awkward
position, was fouled and landed hard on his back on the floor.
He was taken off the court on a backboard and stretcher by
EMTs and taken to the hospital. Reports from the floor stated
he had use of all limbs, was breathing correctly and was fully
alert. Deayon had 16 points at the time of his injury and was
the leading scorer for both teams.
Chillicothe's Bryce Young had 8 points in
the first quarter and finished with 12 points along with
several assists and rebounds. Junior Blake Stephens led the
Hornets with 14 points. Lafayette was able to score from both
the lay-up game as well as the outside game, going 8/19 from
behind the arc. Chillicothe is off until Monday December 28th
when they take on Putnam County at 8:30pm at the NCMC Holiday
Shoot-out.
