Richmond's lone Senior on the roster was the difference in the
game, shooting five of eight from behind the arc and hitting
four of four free throws in the fourth quarter. Blaine
Broderick finished with 23 points for the Spartans, who sunk
seven of nine free throws in the final period when Chillicothe
was forced to send them to the line late in the game.
Chillicothe led 16-15 at the half, but gave up a 7-0
run during the opening minutes of the second half. Broderick,
who is closing in on the Richmond school three-point record,
hit two treys early in the third quarter to stretch the lead
to seven.
The Spartans built an 11 point lead in the fourth
quarter before Chillicothe closed it to just five points, but
the Hornets could get no closer. Bryce Young led
Chillicothe with 22 points, and is averaging 23 points per
game on the season. Chillicothe was just two of nine from the
free throw line. |
