North Kansas City 57, Chillicothe 47
Kearney Tournament 3rd place game
North Kansas City built a lead early and went on to beat
Chillicothe 57-47 in the Kearney Girls Basketball Tournament 3rd
place game. North Kansas City made the first basket of the
game and never trailed. Four treys by NKC helped build a 13
point lead in the first quarter before Chillicothe ended the
quarter on an 8-0 run. Two more baskets to start the second
quarter knocked the lead down to just one point before
Chillicothe started picking up fouls. A third foul sent Leanne
Mathew to the bench much of the second quarter and a fourth
foul in the early third quarter further complicated the game
plan.
The Lady Hornets trailed by 11 at the half, and could
get no closer than 7 in the second half.
Chillicothe
was plagued by turnovers and foul problems, with two players
fouling out in the fourth quarter and two others finishing
with 4 fouls each.
