Lafayette scored the first
bucket of the game, but it was all Chillicothe after that.
Following the initial score, Lafayette only tied the game one
more time, in the late second quarter.
The Lady Hornets were sparked early by baskets from
Samantha Fender and by free throw shooting from Leanne Mathew,
who went 9 of 10 at the charity stripe. Chillicothe also used
their quickness to their advantage, driving to the basket for
easy scores. The Lady Hornets press worked in the second half,
forcing several turnovers in the game.
All eight regular players for Chillicothe scored in the
game, led by Leanne Mathew's 21 points and Rochelle Gillilan's
13 points.
Chillicothe will take on Hannibal at the N.C.M.C. Holiday
Hoops showcase in Trenton at noon on Wednesday the 23rd.
