Lowe is new Lady Hornets Basketball Coach


     Chillicothe Lady Hornet basketball fans will see a familiar face on the sidelines next season. Rachael Lowe has been hired as the new Chillicothe Girls Basketball head coach. Lowe is a 2003 Chillicothe graduate that played for  former Coach Tom Hayob and Coach Karen Jackson.
     Lowe is currently teaching has been helping coach Basketball and Softball at Raymore-Peculiar High School and has assisted under former Ray-Pec girls and former Chillicothe Boys coach Chad Snyder and under veteran Girls coach Brain Gaines. Gains was a long time coach at Oak Grove High School where his teams were perennial powerhouses in the 80s and 90s, including an undefeated state championship in 1992 and a second place finish in 1990.
     Lowe says she soaked up valuable knowledge from Gaines, known for his defensive expertese. Lowe says her coach philosophy will be defense first, and finding what things suit her players best. She also says job number one will be getting the players excited about next season.
     Lowe will replace her senior year coach, Karen Jackson, who stepped down after eight years as Girls Head Basketball coach in Chillicothe. The Lady Hornets have went 8-15 each of the last two years and will graduate six seniors including four starters.
