Double Overtime Penalty Kicks

 

     It took 100 minutes, two overtimes and penalty kicks before Maur Hill, Kansas could eek out a home win over Chillicothe 4-3. After 80 minutes of regulation and a 20 minute overtime period,, Maur Hill outscored Chillicothe 4-3 in penalty kicks for the win. Hornets coach Bill Allison said freshman goalkeeper Troy Toadebush got a hand on the last shot but not enough to keep it out of the net.
     Chillicothe jumped on top first with Grand Peterson scoring unassisted in the 26th minute followed by Laine Saunders in the 36th minute on a penalty kick. Maur Hill came back with a penalty kick in the 51st minute by Moon young Park. Chillicothe's Peters scored his second goal in the 64th minute off an assist by Jarek Schmidt. Maur Hill responded in the 66th minute from Ray Zhou and in the 75th minute by John Hwarg.
     In the penalty kick overtime, Chillicothe had goals from Chase Reeter, Colton Whiteside and Jarek Schmidt while Maur Hill had kicks from Phi Ha, Daniel Kim, D. K. Minn and again by Phi Ha. Chillicothe's Toadebusch had eight saves on goal while Maur Hill had six saves on goal.
     The Hornet coaches were pleased with the majority of the play and mason Munson, Brice Griffin and Jacob Stull all getting their first start with Peterson, Reeter and Toadebush just their second start. Coach Allison also stated Saunders played a much better game after being dropped into the central midfield and Mahonri Reyes playing tough on the back along side Stull and Griffin.
