After three losses to the Cardinals this season, Chillicothe
pulled the upset of the district tournament opening round with a 2-1
win over favored Benton. Senior Blake Stephens pitched a masterful
game, allowing one earned run in the 1st inning before settling
down, allowing just 3 hits over 7 innings with 8 strike outs and
just 2 walks. Stephens threw 71 strikes out of his 108 pitches. At
the plate, Stephens helped his cause by going 2/4 with an RBI.
