Chillicothe's Senior Guard Jacob McKiddy turned up the perimeter
heat, hitting 6 of 11 treys to help the Hornets down Marshall 55-40.
McKiddy was just two shy of the single game record, set in 2002 by
Preston Moritz.
The biggest treys were McKiddy's first two in the
second quarter. They came back-to-back and were followed by a trey
from Nic Voorhies to help Chillicothe to a three point lead which
they hung on to for the rest of the game.
Marshall managed to tie the game in the third,
but another of McKiddy's treys gave the Hornets the lead for good.
Chillicothe played solid team ball against the
Marshall 2-3 zone defense, with Voorhies dishing out 8 assists while
Trevor Reger and Tyler Clampitt led in rebounding with 7 boards
each.
The Owls started strong, led by Junior Alex
Maupin who hit his first 6 shots and had 13 of his team's first 18
points. The Hornets made an adjustment and Maupin was held to just 6
more points the rest of the game.
The win was the second in a row for
Chillicothe, the first time they've won back to back games since
Feb. 2010.
