Two Hornets and
two Lady Hornets captured medals in the season opening Cross Country
contest at Maryville. Chillicothe boys finished 3rd, which Coach Tim
Riekena called "One of the best opening meets we've had in a
few years".
Riekena was pleased with Lady Hornet runners
Brittany Stanfield (16th) and Lizzie McCoy (17th), both of which
medaled in the race. "Lizzie dropped nearly 10 minutes from last
year's race on the same course. Katlyn Garr also improved her time
by nearly 4 minutes"
In the boys race, Riekena pointed to Broc Graves' 7th
place finish. Riekena states Graves made an impression being able to
run with the veterans from Smithville and Benton. Andrew Jones also
finished well enough to medal. "I'm looking forward to everyone
improving this season" stated Riekena.
