The Chillicothe Hornets used a strong defense to force more than two dozen turnovers in route to a 47-34 win over Mid-Buchanan in the opening round of the St Joseph LeBlond Tournament.
     The Hornets built a six point lead at the end of a slow first quarter. After a pair of Mid Buchanan free throws, a Mason Hayward trey gave Chillicothe a 7 point lead. However, the Hornets suffered turnovers and poor shooting to give up a 9-0 run that gave Mid Buchanan a 2 point lead. After trading baskets, the Hornets tied the game up then re-took the lead on a Nate McKiddy transition basket set up by a half court bulls-eye pass from DJ Gannan. The Hornets ended the 2nd quarter with back to back baskets and a 4 point lead.
     The lead was just five points heading into the fourth quarter but three buckets by three different Hornets expanded the lead to 11 and the game was never in doubt after that.
