The Chillicothe
Boys Soccer team had their first shot on goal 15 seconds into the
game. The shot missed, but it was a sign of things to come as the
Hornet Boys Soccer team became the first Hornets varsity level team
to get a win on Bob Fairchild field, dominating Benton 8 – 0.
Derek Hussey started the scoring with a goal in the
19th minute off an assist from Jon Kline. Grant Peterson scored 2
minutes later also off a Kline assist, and then Peterson scored his
second goal in the 32nd minute from an assist by Derek Hussey. Brice
Griffin scored in the 38th minute from a Dylan Clark assist to give
the Hornets a 4-0 lead that held up until halftime.
Chillicothe continued to attack the Benton goal, with
the majority of the 80 minute contest played in front of the Benton
goal keeper. The Cardinals managed just four shots on the
Chillicothe goal in the entire game and none of them came close.
In the second half, Alan Kline scored in the 47th
minute followed by Jimmy Chapman in the 54th minute off a Grant
Peterson assist, Brandon Murray in the 69th minute and Chase Reeter
in the 78th minute on a penalty kick.
Troy Toedebusch picked up his 4th shut out at goalkeeper in as many
games.
