The Chillicothe Hornets soccer team scored two goals in the first half and used some solid defense to beat KC St Pius X 2-1 and advance to the District Championship.
     Chillicothe scored first in the 26th minute on a goal from Steven Cooper. The Hornets scored again in the 39th minute when Grant Peterson sent a header to Jon Kline in front of the net for an easy goal by Kline to lead 2-0 at intermission.
St Pius’ goal came in the 77th minute, but they didn’t threaten the Chillicothe net again.
     The Hornets now have a rematch with St Joseph LeBlond for the district championship at 5:00pm on Thursday at Jerry Litton Stadium. LeBlond beat Maryville 5-1 in the first game of the night. LeBlond edged Chillicothe 2-1 in September, when the Eagles scored a goal with under 3 minutes left in the game for the win.
