Kearney 49, Chillicothe 26
Cameron Tournament
It was
far from a pretty win, but in the end the Kearney Lady
Bulldogs found enough points to down Chillicothe 49-26 in the
opening round of the Cameron Tournament. It was more than two
minutes into the game before Kearney's Jessi Hartzler hit a
trey to give her team a 3-0 lead. That sparked a 12-0 run from
which Chillicothe could never completely recover.
Kearney built a 14 point lead in the first but
Chillicothe ended the first quarter on an 8-0 run and hit two
free throws to start the second quarter and climb back to with
in a 4 point lead. A lackluster second quarter left
Chillicothe trailing by just 5 points.
Kearney again started the second half on a modest 7-0
run to lead by 12. Chillicothe closed it to with in 8 points
twice in the 3rd quarter but could get no closer. A Samantha
McKiddy basket were the only points for Chillicothe in the
entire fourth quarter.
Kearney had four players in double figures and hit 5
treys in the game. Their 6'4" Center Taylor Doan hit 5 of 11
from the floor for 10 points.
