Chillicothe 46, Savannah 35
at Benton - District Tournament
The Chillicothe
Lady Hornets snapped a few long skids in a convincing 46-35
win over Savannah in the opening round of Class 4 District 16
tournament at Benton High School. The win was the first
district win by the Chillicothe girls since the 2005-06
season. Savannah had ended Chillicothe' s season three of the
last five years.
Chillicothe won the toss and scored first. After
Savannah answered, Chillicothe took a 4-2 lead. Savannah would
never lead and would have only one more tie up in the game.
That tie up came late in the first quarter at 8-apiece but
Chillicothe responded with a 12-0 run into the second quarter
and led the rest of the game.
The Lady Hornets led by as man as 16 in the third
quarter but Savannah kept things interesting with a good start
to the fourth quarter and closed it to five points midway
through the final quarter. Chillicothe responded with two free
throws, then had a bucket and free throw by Madison Williams
as part of a 9-0 that iced the win.
Chillicothe had four players in double figures
for the first time since January 11th, 2008.
