(Story
by Coach Lance Harvey)
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets soccer team opened up
at home Wednesday night, dropping a 6-0 decision to St Paul's
Lutheran of Concordia. Opening the half playing into a strong
headwind, the Lady Hornet defense was on its heels early at St
Paul's sent long passes deep into their territory. The visiting
Saints converted their first goal three minutes into the game
and then connected for their second goal less than a minute later.
After a third goal was added in the seventh minute, the Lady Hornets
seemed to settle down and put together some good offensive
possessions but never found the back of the net. The Lady Saints
managed two more goals later in the half to make the score 5-0 at
the half.
Chillicothe came out looking to take advantage of the
wind at their backs but were stymied by a very strong St Paul's
defense. The Lady Hornets defense tightened up and kept St Paul's
out of the goal until surrendering a penalty kick for an inadvertent
trip in the penalty area. Forward Vilder Stalksent converted the
kick to make the final score 6-0. Coach Lance Harvey noted that this
was a particularly strong St Paul's team who benefited from having a
talented group of Scandinavian transfers from overseas on their
roster. "We've got work to do. We need to pick up the intensity in
practice and really focus on our defensive marking. We've got some
issue to work out personnel wise." Harvey stated. "We'll get it
done"
