(Story by Coach Lance Harvey)
The Chillicothe soccer team suffered
a disappointing loss to Kirksville on Friday, dropping a 1-0
decision to the Lady Tigers. The Lady Hornets made some defensive
adjustments from Wednesday's game and those pad off as they were
able to hold Kirksville scoreless for the entire first half.
Goalkeeper Cyrsten Lollar had some key saves and the young defensive
lineup communicated well together.
Offensively, Chilli put together some nice
opportunities, but were unable to capitalize with a goal. The two
evenly matched teams remained in a scoreless tie until the 65 minute
when a defensive breakdown in the midfield allowed one of
Kirksville's players to make almost a full length run to goal.
Lollar made a valiant effort at the save but was unable to prevent
the goal. Coach Harvey stated" It shows what happens when you stop
playing defense in the midfield. It really puts our defense in a
tough position."
"We played fairly well tonight and I was proud of the
girls We'll keep working hard and we'll improve" Players of note
were midfielders Jozie Reeter and Brooke Thomas and the defensive
play of Bailey Fox, Sam Baldwin, Hallee Jones and Carley Anderson.
