The Lady Hornets tennis team dropped
their second straight meet, falling on the road to the perennial
powerhouse Marshall Lady Owls 6 - 3. Despite their second loss in
two days, Coach Aaron Douglas found bright spots in his young team.
"Our two hardest matches are out of the way. Two of our goals are to
win conference and send some players to state in Springfield. I
believe we are on our way to achieving these goals"
Douglas said the big story last night was that, despite
playing one of the best teams around, Chillicothe top two players
still came up with wins.
Sydnie Whiteside won 10-0, Ali Stephens won 10-8 in a
comeback victory, Chelsea Long lost 4-10, Kelly Westphal lost 2-10,
Jozie Reeter lost 1-10 and Stephanie Gramenz lost 2-10.
In doubles matches, Whiteside and Stephens pulled off
what Douglas said was "an amazing doubles win against one of the
best teams in the area." The duo won 11-10, pulling off the tie
breaker 7-3. Long and Westphal lost 3-10 and Reeter and Gramenz lost
4-10.
