The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Tennis team will be sending players to the State Tournament for the first time since 2008. Chillicothe’s Sophomore Sensations, Sydnie Whiteside and Ali Stephens both won their sectional tennis matches on the Danner Park Courts to advance to the state singles tournament in Springfield.
     Whiteside handled Erica McDonald of St Pius X, 6-1, 6-2 while Ali Stephens beat the District 15 champion and state qualifier in 2011, Cami Pendleton of St Joseph Benton 6-4, 6-3. This marks the first time Chillicothe has sent two singles players to the state tournament in the same year since 1995, when sophomores Emily Robinson and Katie Stephens qualified as singles players.
     The State singles tournament will be later this month.
