Chillicothe
turned in two home runs to go with good pitching and defense to beat
Savannah 9 - 2 on the road. Chillicothe again started strong with a
three-run top of the first. Savannah closed the game with one run in
the bottom of the second and third innings, but a five run fourth
inning by Chillicothe sealed the deal. The Lady Hornets tacked on
one more run in the fifth.
Chillicothe was helped by a three run shot by Sam
Baldwin and a two run shot by Maura Sturguess. Chillicothe banged
out a total of 11 hits on the night, helped by three-for-four
performances by lead-off hitter Lauren Jones and Baldwin, who also
had four RBI's.
"We played a good ball game" said Coach Stan Baldwin.
"Pitching was solid, defense was solid with no errors and hitting
was good."
Chillicothe heads to the Lexington Tournament on
Saturday.
