Story by Coach Bob Long
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Golf team (5-1) traveled
to Brookfield on Tuesday, and played a dual meet at Brookfield
Country Club. The Hornets were defeated 205 to 191.
Emily Vogel of Brookfield took top honors with a
round of 44. Chillicothe's Hannah Leamer recorded the second overall
score with a 46. Hannah had an excellent round, paring four of the
nine holes. It came down to the ninth hole, Hannah was tied with the
Brookfield player. One errant shot was the difference in the
individual competition.
Lauren Mason was able to recover her touch with a round
of 51. Lauren had a birdie on the par 4 eighth hole and pared two
other holes, including a brilliant tee shot on the par 3 second
hole. Morgan Dowell and Grace Venner each shot a round of 54 and
both had one par in their round. Kaylee Thieme completed the
Hornet's squad with a round of 61.
The Hornets will face the Brookfield Bulldogs again
next week in District play at Green Hills Golf Course. Having now
played many of the teams in our district, sectional qualifying
appears to be within reach. If the Lady Hornets can fine tune their
game, and with a home course advantage, they hope to advance. The
golf team travels Thursday, to take on the Lawson Cardinals. |
