From the 1912
Harry Hayden was elected captain and
Harry Johnson, manager of the baseball team. South End Park was
obtained for the Ball Grounds. The boys practiced with an earnest
will, but the team did not prove the success which they had expected
it to be. This was because two or three of the stars devoted most of
their time to track work
The first game was played with Brookfield. The C.H.S.
team had un-sufficient practice and was outclassed, but we kept the
score in the neighborhood of a tie.
The next game with the Normal was also
unsuccessful to us on account of their more instructive training.
Next year we hope to have a better team as the line-up will be
nearly the same.
