  2013 - Chillicothe makes its longest pre-season trip in history when they travel to Knob Noster for the annual
pre-season jamboree. The team shows promise for a good season with wins against Richmond and Knob Noster and a JV loss to Smithville. The season would not fulfill the post-jamboree hope with a 4-6 final record, after opening with two straight wins.

2012 -
Chillicothe debuts their new state of the art football stadium in front of a packed grandstand. The game brings to an end the former stadium that was home to Chillicothe High School Football since 1931.
         Tyler Clampitt hits Mason Palmer with a 76 yard pass play for the first Hornets varsity touchdown in the stadium, but in the end a 63 yard run by Marshall in the 4th quarter spoils the opening game of the new facility with a 26-25 Owls victory.

 2010 - Junior Half Back Guy Vinson rushed for 103 yards and the opening score of the game in a season opening win at Marshall. Senior Fullback Nick Plummer scored in the 4th quarter and Alan Kline kicked a 22 yard field goal in the 4th quarter to secure the season opening win on the road.

2001 - Chillicothe used a strong defense in a 25-0 win at Smithville in the first August football game in Hornets history. Chillicothe had 12 sacks in the game led by Michael Wilson with 4.5 sacks. Smithville was held to a negative one yard rushing and 67 yards passing

2007 -Chillicothe scored on a 1 yard run in the 4th quarter but missed the conversion and lost to Maryville at home 20-18. The Maryville coaches in the press box were so loud and jumping up and down so much after the win, the KCHI Radio crew directly below them sincerely feared for their safety, worrying that the floor may give way and come down on top of them.

Lyle Buck scored on runs of 4 and 3 yards in a 14-7 Hornets win at Marshall. According to the Constitution-Tribune article from 1954, buck averaged 5.5 yards a try, was described as a pile driving runner and was selected 2nd team All District.<1954 season>
1965 - Butch Davis returned the season opening kick off 85 yards to the end zone as part of a 28-14 win over Carrollton. He also returned an interception for a touchdown and had a 14 yard touchdown run. Davis would star at MU as a defensive back and play in the NFL for Chicago and Green Bay <1965 season>
1976 - Chillicothe lost 5 fumbles and threw 1 interception in a 14-8 loss to Cameron. Two of the turnovers led to Cameron scores <1976 season>
1982 - Kelly Mason threw for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 31-7 season opening win vs Cameron <1982 season>
1993 - St Louis Beaumont cancelled a game at Chillicothe citing travel problems. Chillicothe had beaten Beaumont in St Louis in 1992. <1993 season>

1947 - Chillicothe's Ed Rice scored on a 5 yard run in the 4th quarter to end a game with Carrollton a 6-6 tie after the PAT run was unsuccessful. Rice was a three sport star as a 2nd team all conference player in football, basketball and was on the conference champion 800 relay team in track.

1958 - Jody Conrad had four rushing touchdowns and an interception return for touchdown in a 38-6 win over Carrollton. Conrad would be an all state honorable mention running back at the end of the season.

1969 - Chillicothe had three fumble recoveries on defense while Craig Wilson led the offense with 121 yards and 2 touchdowns in a 22-6 win over Carrollton

1963 - Chillicothe's Van Swearingen kicked a field goal and had a 49 yard touchdown run in a 10-7
win over Carrollton. He would be named  All District Honorable Mention at Running Back

1968 - In his first varsity pass attempt, Hornets Sophomore QB Brent Anderson threw an interception that was returned 95 yards for a Carrollton touchdown. Chillicothe would go on to win the game 25-7 and Anderson went on to set several school passing records that still stand today, had a varsity record of 28-0-1 and led the Hornets to a 1970 state championship and named all state QB 2 years.

1980 - Chillicothe's Rick Craighead had 170 yards rushing including an 87 yard TD in a 28-0 win over Cameron. The game was played on Saturday after being rained out the night before <1980 season>
1985 - Les Swift had 175 yards rushing and 3 scores in a Hornets 41-0 win at Trenton. Chad Snyder threw second half touchdown passes to Kevin Fender and Bill Shaffer <1985 season>
1996 - Billy Penniston caught a touchdown pass with 5 seconds left in the 1st half in a 7-6 win at the "Turnover Game" at Maryville. Chillicothe recovered 6 fumbles but threw 5 interceptions and lost 1 fumble. <1996 season>
2003 - Chillicothe had 337 yards rushing on 66 carries in a 35-7 win at KC O'Hara, led by Brent Christopher with 171 yards on 16 carries. . <2003 season>

1951 - Chillicothe suffered it's only post-game forfeited loss in program history when a 7-6 win over Milan was overturned when it was discovered the Hornets Senior fullback had dropped out as a freshman,  it was determined he attended long enough it to count as a semester, making this season opening game his 9th semester and thus ineligible  <1951 season>
1956 - Hugh Carlin scored on runs of 48 and 70 yards in the first quarter of a 19-6 win over Smithville. At the end of the season he earned all state honorable mention honors at running back

1962 - David Austin scored from 1 yard out in the rain to tied Carrollton 6-6 in the season opener. The Hornets would follow this game with back to back scoreless ties to start the season at 0-0-3 and end at 3-3-3

1972 - Hornets Running Back Mark Putnam had 130 of the team's 205 yards rushing in a 26-7 win over Marshall. The passing game wasn't quite as effective, going 1 for 7 for a negative 7 yards.

The Savages, a semi-finalist the previous year, were stopped by the Hornets defense at the 1 yard line on the final play of the game to secure the win. The game was played on a Saturday after being rained out the previous night.

1907 - Chillicothe opened their 4th ever season with an 11-0 win over the Chillicothe Normal School 2nd Team (Junior Varsity) The Chillicothe Cresset Yearbook called Chillicothe Halfback Wm Bradley the star player and said Right Guard Maxwell Gordon couldn't be moved by a cannon ball. The team finished with a 6-2 record  <1907 season>
1928 - Chillicothe scored touchdowns in the 1st and 4th quarters in a 12-0 win over Excelsior Springs. <1928 season>

1996- Three different receivers had touchdown catches in a 28-14 homecoming win over Savannah. Brett Hecker led the receivers with five catches for 91 yards including a 59 yard touchdown catch.

1910 - Chillicothe opened the season with an 11-10 loss to Linneus due in part to not having a coach. The coach of the highly successful 1909 team wanted too much money ($300), so the team practiced for a week and played their first game with out a coach. The Captain of last year's team, Mervin Jones, stepped up and served as coach the rest of the season, helping the team to a 5-1 season record <1910 season>

1931- Chillicothe played their first high school game in the new state of the art Chillicothe Business College field (Later known as the old Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium) It was considered the second best facility in the state at the time, second only to University of Missouri. 1925 - Chillicothe's Tom Botsford recovered a bad punt snap in the end zone in the 4th quarter for the winning touchdown at Kirksville 14-7. It was the Tigers first home loss in 12 years

1930 - In a game against Cameron, a rare Chillicothe field goal attempt went off the side of the kickers foot and was fielded by a Cameron player, who ran 95 yards for the only touchdown in the game in a 6-0 Cameron win. It is the only known touchdown of that kind in any Chillicothe varsity football game in history.  In 15 meetings to this game's date, Chillicothe had only one win against Cameron and that was by forfeit. <1930 season>
1935 - Chillicothe Fullback Charles Mosier had two touchdown runs and passes for another touchdown in a 26-6 win over Brookfield <1935 season>
1952 - Brookfield completed a 2nd quarter touchdown pass and beat Chillicothe 6-0. Their next win over Chillicothe wouldn't come until 1973. <1952 season>
1958 - Jody Conrad had a touchdown run, threw two touchdowns to Vince Turner, and on defense had an interception return for touchdown in a 33-6 win over Milan <1958 season>
1975 - Doug Doughty threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to Carl Head in the 2nd quarter for what would be the game winning touchdown in a 14-7 win over Savannah. Billy Vorbeck had a 38 yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter but neither team scored in the second half <1975 season>

1946 - Wentworth Military Academy had twice as many yards as Chillicothe but only managed to be the Hornets 6-0 on a 30 yard run. Chillicothe had 4 turnovers <1946 season>
1957 The Hornets Gary Walker scored on a one yard touchdown run with under a minute left to help the Hornets beat Brookfield 12-6. The Bulldogs lost six fumbles and threw five interceptions. <1957 season>
1968 - In the most lopsided win in modern history, Chillicothe chalked up a 79-0 win over Milan. Three Hornet Quarterbacks combined to have 287 yards passing with six touchdowns to six different receivers. The team also had three rushing touchdowns, used three different kickers to score extra points and had an interception returned for a touchdown <1968 season>
1974 - Chillicothe had 10 points in the third quarter for a 10-0 win at Savannah in heavy rain and fog. Each team had under 140 yards of offense, but amazingly, no turnovers even with the less than perfect weather. <1974 season>
1997 - Wyatt Pickering had three touchdowns, Justin Walter with a touchdown run and a touchdown reception all in a 47- 0 win over St Louis Priory in a Saturday game. PRior was held to 26 yards rushing and one pass completion for 7 yards <1997 season>

1996 - Following a game with Benton and multiple injuries, Chillicothe coaches and team doctors decided there were too many injuries to starters and worried about younger players safety and

cancelled a game on Mon Oct 8th with Class 5 Columbia Hickman. The controversial move drew statewide attention. Chillicothe considered it a cancellation but Hickman reportedly considered it a win by forfeit. <1996 season>
2001 - Chillicothe won 37-0 over Cameron. The Dragons quarterback went 2 for 12 for a minus 10 yards passing. In 2002 Cameron started a freshman at Quarterback, Drew Newhart, who went on in his career to lead Cameron to two Show Me Bowls and one State Championship <2001 season>

1906 - Chillicothe beat cross town Chillicothe Normal School 5-0. Touchdowns were worth five points. The team finished 1-3 with the Chillicothe Cresset Yearbook cited "eligibility rules kept some good men out of the game" <1906 season>
1941 - Junior Posey had a 35 yard touchdown run in the second quarter for the only score in a 6-0 Hornets win over Wentworth Military Academy <1941 season>

1967 - Dick Cox threw three touchdown passes to three different players in a 46-0 win over Brookfield. Phil Willard had a touchdown run and a touchdown reception <1967 season>
1972 - Mark Putnam scored three times in the second half to beat Moberly 31-23. Steve Koehly also had a 46 yard touchdown run and an 86 yard kick off return touchdown <1972 season>
1978 - Chillicothe had a balanced offense with 199 yards rushing and 192 yards passing in a
41-22 homecoming win over Brookfield. Scott Durham had an 86 yard fumble return for touchdown. <1978 season>

1957 - Marceline Quarterback Shane Cavanaugh threw one touchdown pass and had one touchdown run in a 32-19 win over Chillicothe. Cavanaugh would later become a highly successful high school coach at Marceline and other high schools in Missouri <1957 season>

- After 1 tie and 2 losses Chillicothe practiced with the Chillicothe Business College team, which helped the high school team to a 19-0 win at Gallatin. A newspaper article stated the team "had so much spirit in them they quit smoking during the season"<1916 season>

1979 - Stan Saunders threw for 196 yards and three touchdowns in a 36-6 win over Moberly. Scott Durham had 6 catches for 152 yards, which was a school record at the time (Now 4th best all time) <1979 season>

1990 - 3,500 people watched Trenton's Brian Grimes roll up 322 yards rushing to give Trenton their first win over Chillicothe since 1966, winning 32-20 <1990 season>

1931 - Clarence Alberts had a 25 yard blocked punt return in a 13-7 win at Kirksville, the team's only win of the season <1931 season>
1942 - Harold Ashbrook had 3 touchdown runs and one touchdown catch in a 31-13 win against Marceline. He had 157 yards in 13 carries <1942 season>

1969 - Chillicothe beat Marceline 56-0 despite two more touchdowns were called back due to penalties. Brent Anderson went 3 of 4 for 95 yards and 3 touchdowns, Craig Wilson had an 86 yard touchdown run on the first play of the game and Sam Mets had a 16 yard fumble return for the final touchdown <1969 season>
1980 - David Vorbeck had three touchdown runs, Kelly Mason threw for 186 yards and two touchdown passes in a 36-20 win at Trenton, which scored the final 13 points of the game in the 4th quarter <1980 season>

1986 - Les Swift ran for three touchdowns in a 35-0 win at St Joseph Benton <1986 season>

1997 - Justin Walter returned the opening kick off for a touchdown, had three rushing touchdowns including one of 80 yards and had a 65 yard touchdown catch in a 55-12 win at Fulton. David Gabrielson had a punt return touchdown and Joe Koehly had a 33 yard interception return.

1968 - It was another blow out win for Chillicothe, this one a 45-7 win over Macon for homecoming that included 11 players with a rushing attempt, 3 with a pass attempt and Keith Ware leading the receivers with 5 catches for 128 yards and 2 touchdowns <1968 season>

1985 - Jason Graves kicked a then school record 42 yard field goal with 5 seconds left to beat Helias 17-14. Kevin Fender had an 84 yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter.  <1985 season>
1991 - Drew Danner had two touchdown runs, Mark Faubion threw two touchdown passes and had a touchdown run in a 48-12 win over Trenton <1991 season>

2002 - One week after a 58-13 win over Savannah, the Hornets topped it with a 59-14 win over Cameron with 11 players with a rushing attempt, 332 yards rushing and 151 yards passing. Chillicothe had 2 safeties both in the 1st quarter and Ryan Smith threw for 132 yards and a touchdown <2002 season>

2003 - Cameron's Drew Newhart threw for 316 yards for five interceptions in a 60-13 Chillicothe win. The Hornets' Daniel Meyer threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns to Drew Lollar. Clint Macoubrie had three rushing touchdowns <2003 season>

2007 - Chillicothe beat Boonville 48-7 but an earlier district loss left the Hornets out of post season play <2007 season>

1938 - Junior Darr had a touchdown run, touchdown pass and an interception return for touchdown and Joe Shy had a touchdown run and touchdown catch in a 26-7 win over Marceline. Both Darr and Shy would go on to be major college sports stars, Darr in Football and Shy in Track. Darr would have a pro football try out and Shy would tie an indoor track world record.

A week after beating Meadville 6-0, Chillicothe beats previously undefeated St Joseph Central at home 6-5. A newspaper article stated the win "was celebrated by the famous Shirt tail parade" but no other details were provided about the celebration. <1908 season>
1914 - Chillicothe tied Breckenridge for the second time of the season. The 6-6 score resulted in changes in the line and a series of practice games with Chillicothe Business College

November 11th is Veterans Day and for 30 years it was also Chillicothe vs Trenton game day. The first Hornets vs Bulldogs Veterans Day game was in 1936 with the final one in 1969. The teams would almost always play on November 11th unless it fell on a Sunday. 1965 - Butch Davis scored touchdowns by a run, a catch and an interception in a 28-12 homecoming win <1965 season>
1966 - In what could be a candidate for a top 10 legendary high school football game, 5,500 fans 

 were on hand to see the Hornets at 8-0 which had outscored their opponents 201-27 take on Trenton, 9-0 outscoring opponents 388-26. Trenton scored three touchdowns in the 4th quarter in a 27-10 Trenton win. It would be the last Trenton win over Chillicothe until 1990. Trenton finished ranked #1 in the state in the final poll in the days before post season play, To this day they still consider it their only state football championship <1966 season>
1968 - Brent Anderson threw for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns in a 27-7 win. Trenton was held to just 10 offensive yards. <1968 season>
1969 - Chillicothe had an easy win over Trenton 50-12. The game was played on Tuesday the 11th and the state cut off date for wins was the 9th, so the win didn't count in state qualifying points, keeping Chillicothe out of the play offs. The teams would continue to play, but this game marked the end of the Veterans Day rivalry <1969 season>
1978 - Chillicothe beat Lafayette 35-14 in a quarterfinal win. David Macoubrie had 155 yards and 4 touchdowns

1987 - Chillicothe destroyed Benton 52-28 in a sectional win. Travis Clark had 2 touchdowns as die David White and Hamilton Trinidad while Brent Scholl threw for two touchdowns. <1987 season>

Chillicothe's Tom Botsford scored on a 3rd quarter touchdown run in a 7-0 win over Gallatin <1926 season>
1951 - Emmit Wallace and Ellis Mason both scored on 1 yard runs in the 4th quarter for a 14-6 Chillicothe win over Trenton, one of only two wins that year <1951 season>
1956 - Chillicothe had a true statement win over Trenton, winning 47-18 on the road with 298 yards rushing and 151 yards passing. Chillicothe ended the year 6-2 and Trenton 5-4 <1956 season>
1962 - Trenton had 357 yards rushing in a 40-12 win over Chillicothe <1962 season>

1931 - Chillicothe lost to Lafayette 19-6. The Hornets only touchdown was scored by Jack Shutt, who was moved from starting right tackle to starting Quarterback during the season, which might be one reason they only won one game <1931 season>
1941 - Roger Englert threw for two touchdowns but lost 14-13 and gave Kirksville the Tigers only win of the season <1941 season>
1970 - Ardell Johnson ran for 100 yards and four touchdowns in a 60-8 win over Benton. The Hornets Defense had 3 interceptions and a fumble recovery <1970 season>

1976 - Kent Hanan hit David Macoubrie for a 13 yard touchdown pass with 3:33 left in the game to beat Marshall 21-15 in a quarterfinal game. Hanan had earlier hit a touchdown pass to Eddie Ashlock and scored on a 1 yard run

1985 - Chillicothe's defense had two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a blocked punt in a 14-6 win over Marshall. Both Hornets touchdowns were in the first quarter. <1985 season>
1986 - Chillicothe beat KC Southwest 26-7 in a sectional game. The game was moved from Wednesday to Thursday and from Southwest to Chillicothe due to field conditions. Joey Crenshaw and Bryan Watkins each had two interceptions, Les Swift had a fumble recover in the end zone and a one yard touchdown. <1986 season>
1996 - Nick Brinkley threw for three touchdowns and 123 yards in a 38-6 sectional win over Macon. Michael Holder kicked a 28 yard field goal. Macon had just 2 first downs and their score was on a 75 yard kick off return

2003 - In one of the finest moments in Hornets football history, Chillicothe snapped Platte County's 52 game winning streak with a 28-14 win at Platte County, whose running back was injured on the first play. Chillicothe's Scott Lowe
had two interceptions in the game. Chillicothe Coaches came out of the post game locker room wearing specially printed "Platte County 52-1" T-shirts. Prior to this, Chillicothe's last 7 losses had all been to Platte County.

1918 - Due to a nation wide deadly influenza epidemic, schools were closed for weeks and this was the first game of a three game season. The team had one week of practice prior to the game and lost to Excelsior Springs 57-0. The School Superintendent had to serve as head coach

1939 - Junior Darr had five touchdowns in a 39-19 win over Kirksville. Full rushing yardage is not know, but his five touchdown runs alone added up to 203 yards <1939 season>
1940 - Kirksville won at home 12-6 in the final game of the season with all the points scored in the 4th quarter. Quarterback James Wally was Chillicothe's only 1st team All NCMC player

1974 - Doug Doughty rushed for two touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to Sam Fleener in a 33-0 win over Trenton. The Hornets defense had 3 fumble recoveries and one interception

1993 - David Booth had a five yard touchdown in the second overtime, and stopped O'Hara's run conversion attempt for a 22-20 double overtime win in a quarterfinal play off game. The Hornets failed on a 4th down pass in the first overtime but O'Hara was called for interference. Matt Griffith then scored on a 1 yard run to force the second overtime <1993 season>
2008 - Clint Dysart had 14 yards and two touchdowns to help the Hornets to a 29-13 quarterfinal win at Pleasant Hill. Collin Parker had a 37 yard field goal and a 16 yard touchdown catch.

1907 - Chillicothe beat Brookfield 5-0 at McWilliams Park for their second win over Brookfield of the season. Touchdowns were worth 5 points.
1923 - Chillicothe suffered their worst loss of the season, falling to Trenton 44-0. The Hornets would finish the season 2-8
1973 - Ron Neely had 2 touchdowns and 218 yards rushing in a 23-0 win at Warrensburg
1987 - Hamilton Trinidad had 3 touchdowns in a 43-12 quarterfinal win at O'Hara. David White, Travis Clark and Trinidad all had over 100 yards rushing each, the first time this occurred in school history.

1986 - Les Swift scored twice including the game winner in the 4th quarter in a 21-14 quarterfinal win against O'Hara. Bryan Watkins had a 53 yard interception touchdown in the 4th quarter.
1997 - Wyatt Pickering had 206 yards rushing with two touchdowns and an 11 yard blocked punt return for a touchdown in a 21-14 playoff win at Owensville. Chillicothe's defense had 4 interceptions including two from Jason Vorbeck

Fred Burke scored twice in a 26-0 win over Brookfield. The team went 5-2-2 on the season.
1921 - In one of the biggest wins in school history, Chillicothe beat Hamilton 81-0. They led 48-0 at halftime and the game was called in the end of the third quarter due to darkness. There were no field lights.
1935 - Paul Paramore had 4 touchdowns in a 45-6 win at Unionville. His 4 runs totaled 173 yards.
1972- Troy Cranmer kicked a 25 yard field goal with 1:33 left in the game for a 15-13 semifinal win over Helias.
1985 - Les Swift had a school record 40 carries for 193 yards and a touchdown in a 21-14 playoff win at St Charles West in a hard rain storm that forced cancellations of several playoff games that night.
1991 - Chillicothe had a 15-0 win at Maryville with Drew Danner getting two touchdowns and Mke Thistlethwaite with an interception and fumble recovery

1988 - Spencer Sutton had a 21 yard pick six to start the scoring in a 26-10 semifinal win against Carl Junction. It was part of a 20 point first quarter for the Hornets <1988 season>

1976 - Joplin Memorial scored on a 9 yard run in the second overtime to beat Chillicothe 34-31 in a semifinal game. Joplin had 258 yards rushing to Chillicothe's 146 yards <1976 season>
1993  - Chillicothe had touchdowns from Shane Midgyett and David Booth in a 13-6 semi-final win over Bolivar <1993 season>

1930 - QB Johnny White scored on a run and threw a touchdown pass, Fred Irvin caught a touchdown pass and had a run as part of a 40-6 win over Maryville. Reggie Fair scored on an 85 yard run in the final minute <1930 season>

1970 - Mark Putnam and Ardell Johnson each scored twice in a 29-12 semi-final win over Warrensburg. Chillicothe's defense had 4 interceptions and a fumble recover <1970 season>

1987 - Camdenton scored twice in the 4th quarter including the winning touchdown with 1:29 left to beat Chillicothe 24-21 in a semi-final game <1987 season>

1986 - Camdenton's Jeff Shore threw for four touchdowns in a 47-12 semifinal win over Chillicothe. Joey Crenshaw had an 82 yard kick off touchdown and threw a 57 yard touchdown pass to Bryan Watkins.  <1986 season>
1997 Chillicothe threw four interceptions in a  20-10 semi-final loss to St Louis Country Day. Joe Koehly had a touchdown catch and a fumble recovery.  <1997 season>
2008 - Chillicothe's undefeated season came to an end with a 14-13 semi-final loss at Cassville. Chillicothe had more total yards but threw three interceptions and lost one fumble  <2008 season>

Chillicothe lost at Oregon (Missouri) 28-0. The team traveled several hours by train then were dropped off and forced to walk two hours overland to get to the stadium. Several players claimed they were given a "rotten deal" in the game. <1907 season>
1922 - Orace Newman threw a 30 yard touchdown and Chillicothe blocked a punt out of the end zone in a 9-7 win over Macon <1922 season>
1923 - Orace Newman scored twice but lost at Cameron 25-13. The yearbook stated LHB Elmer Peters for Chillicothe was injured during the game which "disheartened the team, giving the game to Cameron" <1923 season>
1985 - Kevin Fender and Les Swift each scored touchdowns in a 15-0 semi-final win over Festus <1985 season>
1991 - Rick Youssef had a fumble recovery for touchdown to help with a 21-0 semi-final won at Mount Vernon. Brad Bacon had an interception and Kevin Gilgour blocked a punt <1991 season>

Chillicothe's Marion Winn scored in the second quarter in an 18-0 win over Marceline

1921 - Bertram Clark scored all over the field in an 84-0 win over Pattonsburg. Clark scored on a punt return, five touchdown runs, threw one touchdown pass and caught three touchdown passes. Russell White went 12 of 12 on extra points and Rudy Stucker threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more. The game was six days after the Hornets beat Hamilton 81-0 in threw quarters Clark went on to be named  an honorable mention All American Halfback in 1926 and is a member of the University of Missouri Hall of Fame. <The Bertram Clark Story>   <1921 season>
1927 - In the annual Thanksgiving Day game with Trenton, the Bulldogs beat the Hornets 13-0. The

1920 - Trenton called off a Thanksgiving Day game with Chillicothe for unknown reasons, so Chillicothe played at Maryville and lost 14-28 <1920 season>
1926 - Delmos Justus had a 55 yard touchdown pass to Sam Sheetz to help the Hornets beat Trenton 14-13 in the annual Turkey Day Game and finish 4 and 4 on the season. <1926 season>

1978 - David DeVaul threw two first quarter touchdown passes and ran for one in the third quarter to lead his team to a State Championship win at home over Washington 42-0. DeVaul was

selected all state QB.  Doug Switzer had his 12th interception on the season and was selected All State defensive back and David Macoubrie rushed 37 times for 209 yards and a touchdown and was selected all state RB and LB. Other all state selections were OT Rick Benson, C Tim Lightner, DE Rich Young and Coach Bob Fairchild. Chillicothe lost at Carrollton 32-0. Reports stated the Hornets received several bad decisions by the referee and refused to resume play until a new referee was found. <1908 season>
1914 - One of the worst losses ever by Chillicothe, the Hornets fell at Trenton 84-0

1972 - Hornets Punter Chip Vanlandingham kicked a 70 yard punt to get the Hornets out of trouble in the rain and mud of their home field in a 14-9 State Championship win over Chaminade. Steve Gastineau had a 32 yard fumble return touchdown and David Ginther had a 75 yard touchdown run, all in the first half. <1972 season>
1988 - Lutheran North scored in every quarter to beat Chillicothe 36-0 in the state championship game at University of Missouri. The Hornets had 162 yards passing but only 68 yards rushing. Newspaper reports stated All State Running Back David White suffered a first quarter ankle injury and could not return to the game, having only 2 carries for 8 yards in the contest. <1988 season>
1993 - In a state championship game that remains controversial to this day, St Francis Borgia kicked a 26 yard field goal with 2:47 left in the game to beat Chillicothe 24-21 in the Show Me Bowl. According to reports, one official called it good, a second official said no good and game films reportedly show the kick was possibly wide left. The Hornets led 21-0 at one point in the first half and 21-6 at halftime. <1993 season>

Chillicothe lost to Trenton 6-0 in a Thanksgiving Day game played on a field with 4 inches of snow on the ground. The previous week Trenton had beaten Lathrop 102-0 and in week one, Chillicothe had lost to Trenton 43-0.

1930 - Trenton won at home on Thanksgiving 20-0 to finish 4-1 in conference and Chillicothe 3rd at 3-2 in conference play <1930 season>

1907- Chillicothe finished the season with a 6-2 record thanks to an 11-10 win at Seymour, Iowa high school on a Thursday game. The team left by train on Wednesday evening and returned Friday. (Road trips were a little more involved back then) <1907 season>
1918 - Chillicothe finished the season 0-3 with an 18-0 loss to Brookfield They were shut out all three

games in a season that started in mid November due to a nation wide deadly influenza epidemic, along with problems finding a coach. The Kansas City Journal had 6' 2" 165lb Richmond Coburn as the star of the team and named him unanimous choice for center of the All Star team of Northwest Missouri. <1918 season>
1929 - Chillicothe's Ed Saale had two touchdown runs in a 13-0 win over Trenton <1929 season>
1935 - Paul Paramore scored twice in the final Thanksgiving Day football game between Chillicothe and Trenton, a 14-7 Hornets win. Next year the series was moved to Veterans Day and held on that date through 1969.  <1935 season>
1970 - Ardell Johnson scored twice on the ground and caught one touchdown pass, plus had an interception on defense in a 32-6 win over Dexter at Missouri Valley College in Marshall to win their first state championship. Steve Bruce had a 48 yard put return touchdown and Mark Putnam scored from 9 years out. Dexter was held to 49 yards rushing and 20 yards passing. <1970 season>

1917- Chillicothe's Sam Dennis had a 60 yard punt return touchdown in a 60-0 Hornets win over Moberly to finish the season 5-2-1 <1917 season>
1923 - Chillicothe beat Jamesport 51-0 in several inches of snow. It was one of only two wins that season. <1923 season>
1928 - Chillicothe scored in the third quarter but missed the conversion run and lost at Trenton 7-6 to finish the season with a 2-6 record <1928 season>

1934 -Bob Faurot had a touchdown run and threw a touchdown pass in a 19-0 win at Trenton

1985 - Kevin Fender had two touchdowns in a 20-14 win over KC Center in the Show Me Bowl in St Louis. The Hornets had over 300 yards rushing and no turnovers. The Hornets defense had three fumble recoveries in the game to finish 13-1 state champions, after going 4-5 the year before

1991 - Hornets QB Mark Faubion scored twice on the ground and threw one touchdown pass in a 40-12 win over Herculaneum in the Show me Bowl in Springfield.
