Baseball
at Chillicothe 3, Savannah 0 (3 innings) |
Chillicothe scored three times in the
2nd inning to beat Savannah in a rain-shortened game. Chillicothe
coach Dave Mapel said it was a very wet field, but after two
postponements, he wanted to get a game played.
Blake Stephens drew the opening day start and a lot of
new faces were in the field behind him. "We had only three familiar
faces on the field behind him" stated Mapel, "Chase Fantazia, last
year's starter at second base, Conner Lindley, a part-time starter
in left field and A. J. VanHoutan, a part time starter behind the
plate."
Maple was pleased with Stephen's on the mound. "I
thought Blake had great command of his pitches. He gave up only one
hit but nothing reached the outfield." Maple was also pleased with
the double play turned in by Seth Lowe (2B) and Chase Fantazia (SS).
The Hornets travel to Macon on Monday for a 5:00pm game
then St Joseph LeBlond at Hyde Park on Wednesday for a 4:30 game.
