Chillicothe
fell on hard times in the final two innings and lost to Lafayette
10-3 at Chillicothe. The Hornets led 3-1 heading into the sixth
inning, but gave up four runs in the sixth and five runs in the
seventh inning.
"This was a disappointing loss" stated Hornets
coach Dave Mapel. "For five innings we played extremely well, our
defense was pretty darn good, our offense was decent and our
pitching was ok. Then someone opened the flood gates."
Maple says offensively, the Hornets had runners
in scoring position but left them on base too many times, including
bases loaded. Defensively, he felt the team played well early on.
"The ability is there" said Maple "now we just have to learn ot keep
playing with an aggressive attitude and not get content. "
