Lafayette sent Chillicothe to the
consolation bracket of the Pony Express tournament with an 18-8 win
over the Hornets in the first round.
"This was not the type of game we want to see"
commented Hornets coach Dave Mapel. "Our pitching wasn't very good
and our defense failed to provide any support." Mapel says the
Hornets need a lot of work,. "We've got to work with our desire to
improve and, so far, we aren't accomplishing that goal."

Chillicothe scored the winning run in
the bottom of the 6th inning then held on in the 7th to beat
Maryville 11-10 and advance to the consolation game of the Pony
Express Tournament.
Coach Dave Mapel says his young Hornets team is still
learning the game. "I was very pleased with out offensive
performance. We hit the ball and ran the bases well." Maple said the
team still needs the pitching and defense to step it up.
Chase Fantazia went the full 7 innings for the win,
allowing 10 runs off 10 hits. "Chase did a good job of going the
distance" commented Coach Mapel.
