Comments from Chillicothe Coach Dave Mapel
This was a
heartbreaker. Blake Stephens pitched a phenomenal game, but made
just a couple of mistakes that hurt. (i.e. 3run homer in the bottom
of the 5th).
Defensively, we played OK but we still had a couple of
errors that we should not be making at this stage of the season.
Offensively, we did a good job early in the game and ran the bases
well. We got thrown out at 2nd and at the plate but we had to put
the pressure on Lafayette and force them to make plays, and they
did.
I'm a bit concerned with our offensive pattern. We hit
and score early and then we shut the bats down. If we want to
compete in the district tournament, we've got to be able to keep the
bats going throughout the game. We can't get complacent.
