Coach Dave Mapel comments:
"This was another heart-breaker. You would think that if your pitcher had a no-hitter going into the top of the 7th inning that you would be in good shape to win the game. But not the case for Junior lefty Justin VanHoutan and the Chillicothe Hornets baseball team.
"Justin had a no-hitter through six innings and we were behind 5-0. We really let him down. He pitched, without a doubt, his best game of his career and we didn't provide him with the offensive and defensive support that we had talked about earlier.
"Early in the game, our defense looked pretty awesome! Chase made a great play deep to his left and Chase (Fantazia) and Seth (Lowe) made a nice play picking a runner off at third. But, as we've done too many times this year, we fizzled late with two errors in the 5th and five errors in the 6th which led to Maryville scoring five of their six runs. On top of that we really didn't provide Justin with any kind of offensive support. We hit the ball but we couldn't find any green in the outfield."
