Chillicothe 2, Maur Hill, KS 1 |
The
Chillicothe Hornets played a solid second half to come from behind
and beat Maur Hill, Kansas 2-1 in Chillicothe. Hornets coach Bill
Allison says his team outplayed and out possessed the Ravens by a
wide margin the first half. "Dennis Wong slid one by Hornet keeper
Jarek Schmidt. We had so many close chances to score but just could
not find the net" proclaimed Allison.
The Hornets were able to get on track in the second half when
a Colton Whiteside attempt hit the post, rebounding into the goal
area where Grant Peterson beat the Raven defense to the ball and put
it in the net to tie the score. The game winning goal came 10
minutes later when Nate Pryor sent the ball across the far post area
where Colton Whiteside buried the ball into the net.
Allison was pleased with his team's defense. "They
played well tonight with jacob Stull, Mahonri Reyes and Brice
Griffin going the whole 80 minutes as Austin Ireland and Jeremiah
Applebury filling the hole for the last defensive position."
The Hornet coach also pointed out the play of Josh Williams and
Senior Keeper Jarek Schmid. Goals:
Chillicothe: Grant Peterson - 49th minute, Colton Whiteside -
59th minute (Assist by Nate Pryor)
Maur Hill: Dennis Wong - 22nd minute
Saves:
