Maryville Invitational - 4th |
Chillicothe opened their cross country season with a lot of new
faces and a strong effort, finishing 4th at the Maryville
Invitational. "For our first meet of the season, I was proud of
everyone's efforts" proclaimed Hornets coach Tim Riekena.
Smithville won the team event with a 22, Benton 2nd
with 70, Maryville 3rd with 73, Chillicothe with 81, Savannah with
130, Lafayette with 145 and Clarinda, Iowa with a 185. Smithville
also won the girls team event with a 22, Benton 2nd with 45 and
Clarinda 3rd with 68. Chillicothe's lone girls runner Mary Kate
Taylor finished 4th in 21:00 to earn a medal.
"Mary Kate ran a smart race. She did well on the hills"
said Riekena.
On the boys side, Daniel Riekena finished 7th, Thomas
Cassity 12th and Drew Jones 16th with all three earning medals. "The
boys team had a cluster of points that, if we can move 3 or 4
runners up in the pack, our overall score would be much improved"
commented Riekena.
