- Chillicothe 49 , at St Joseph LeBlond 13
It took Chillicothe just 11 seconds to score their first
touchdown, and the route was on, beating St Joseph LeBlond
49-13. Chillicothe's Bryce Young returned the opening kick off
87 yards for the first Hornets score. Chillicothe scored three
more times to lead 28-0 midway thru the 1st quarter and led
42-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Hornets benefited from
kick offs into the end zone by Connor Lindley and a defense
that held LeBlond to 8 carries for a minus-23 yards and 1 for
7 for 3 yards passing in the first quarter.
Chillicothe substituted freely at the start of the
second quarter and following a Zach Douglas touchdown with
8:22 left in the first half, all of the Chillicothe starters
were done for the night. Chillicothe's reserves including two
freshmen played the rest of the game against the LeBlond
starters. St Joseph's scores came on a kick off return
following Douglas' score, and on a 2 yard run on the final
play of the game.
On defense, Chillicothe had a fumble recovery on the
kick off team, and a punt block by Sophomore Jacob Lewis, and
five quarterback sacks.
Young scored three touchdowns including the kick off
return, a 24 run and a 54 yard run. He had just 4 carries for
92 yards and caught one 18-yard pass. Brett Stephens had
touchdown runs of 24 and 1 yards and Jared McCauslin hit Alex
Thompson for a touchdown pass in the 1st quarter. Chillicothe
had 296 yards of offense to LeBlond's 108, most of that coming
against the Chillicothe reserves. |
