Chillicothe scored the first ten points of the game but
Savannah put up 27 unanswered points to beat Chillicothe 27-10
in the first round of district play. Chillicothe marched the
opening kick off down to the 13 before the drive stalled, and
settling for a 30 yard field goal.
Two plays later a Bryce Young interception gave
Chillicothe the ball at midfield, but the drive stalled and a
44 yard field goal was no good. After forcing Savannah to
three downs and punt, Chillicothe's Josh Rockhold went 80
yards for the Hornets only touchdown of the night.
The Hornets fortunes would turn after the first quarter.
Chillicothe rolled up 158 yards rushing in the first quarter
but managed just 99 total yards in the final three quarters.
Savannah scored three times in the second quarter on a
26 yard pass and two of three quarterback keeper touchdowns in
the game to lead 20-10 at the half. Savannah's final score
came late in the third quarter. One of Savannah's touchdown
drives was set up by an interception in the second quarter.
With the win, Savannah improves to 6-2 and 1-0 in
district play while Chillicothe falls to 6-2 overall and 0-1
in district play |
