The Savannah Savages used a tough defense
and just enough offense to end Chillicothe's season, beating the
Hornets 44-29 in the Class 4 District 16 Boys Basketball tournament
opening game.
Savannah scored the first 10 points of the game and
never trailed in the contest. Chillicothe closed the game to three
points twice in the 2nd quarter and was with in six points in the
third when Savannah's Tyler Peterson hit a trey to give the Savages
a 9 point lead after three quarter. Peterson then scored the first
four points of the fourth quarter and Chillicothe was never closer
than 10 points again.
The Hornets lost 20 games on the season for just the
third time in their 100 year history (3-20 in 1985-86 and 5-20 in
1973-74) and turned in the sixth straight losing season, the most
consecutive losing seasons in 75 years. |
