Chillicothe finished strong, despite the 9th place finish out of 14
teams in the Platte County Invitational. Coach Tim Riekena said it
was a tough course but ideal running conditions. "Even though we
finished 9th, everyone finished with a super kick on an uphill. I
was pleased with everyone's effort". He said Thomas Cassity
continues to run strong and Sophomore Andrew Jenson had a "super
race."
On the girls
side, only Mary Kate Taylor ran the varsity race for the Lady
Hornets team. "Mary Kate has some major breathing issues she is
dealing with" explained Riekena. "Her running form looks great, but
she can't breathe well. We're hoping after the first front, things
will get better.
The Chillicothe Hornets younger runners gained some
valuable experience the Platte County Invitational with what was
called a "First-Timers" race. Riekena said he decided to not run
anyone on Junior Varsity and let the new runners compete in the
First Timers race.
