Mary Kate
Taylor was the overall girls winner in the Benton Invitational with
a time of 21:39. No team results were made available due to weather
factors as the last race was going on.
Coach Tim Riekena was pleased with the results, and
with the face all 16 runners were able to compete for the first time
this season. "Both Trent Putnam and Broc Graves ran their first race
of the year." Ten of the 16 team members medaled in their race.
Riekena stated Taylor ran a smart race and paced
herself well. "Most of the race she was a close second but the last
half mile, she was able to pull away to get her win". Riekena also
was impressed by Thomas cassity and Andrew Jenson. "the continue to
drop their time from last season, as did Mitchell Smith."
