The Chillicothe
Lady Hornets squeaked out a 1-0 win aver St Joseph LeBlond to become
undefeated Midland Empire Conference champions. It is the fifth MEC
title under Coach Stan Baldwin and the first since 2006.
Baldwin said the Lady Hornets had good defense and
great pitching but their bats were not alive. Maura Sturguess picked
up an RBI, driving in Sarah Baldwin for the only run of the game.
The game originally started at Leblond on Thursday the 23rd but was
halted in the 3rd quarter due to rain. The game resumed on the 30th
as part of a LeBlond double header at Cameron. LeBlond played
Cameron first, then finished the Chillicothe game afterwards.
Chillicothe is in Carthage on Friday and Saturday for
the 16-team Carthage Tournament, considered the toughest regular
season tournament in Missouri.
