The top
seeded Savannah Savages had to come from behind in the late game
innings to come from behind and beat the Chillicothe Hornets 8 to 5.
Chillicothe was leading 5 to 2 heading into the bottom of the 5th
inning, but Savannah managed to put together a three run rally with
two out in both the bottom of the 5th and bottom of the 6th innings.
Each team scored twice in the 1st, with Chillicothe
scoring two in the 4th and one in the fifth to take the 5 to 2 lead,
but couldn’t score after that.
Guy Vinson pitched the first five inning, Ryan Smith
pitched in the 6th and took the loss with Troy Toedebusch mopping up
in the end of the 6th. The three combined to allow 8 runs off 11
hits with 6 walks and 6 strike outs. Savannah also needed three
pitchers with Blake McFadden pitching the final two innings for the
win.
At the plate, Toedebusch led Chillicothe with a double
and two singles, Jacob Lewis with a double and a single, and one
single each for Austin Hatfield, DJ Gannan, Brennen Bonderer and
Steve Cooper.
Chillicothe ends 4 and 18 on the season.
