     The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Soccer team won their first round game in the Excelsior Springs tournament with a 4-3 win over St. Joe Benton. Freshmen forward Lindy Saunders recorded her third two goal game of the season and Chillicothe also benefited from goals by junior Sarah Hussey and sophomore Miranda Mammen. The Lady Hornets out-shot the Cardinals by a margin of 18 to 5 with the total scoring output limited only by the excellent play of Benton keeper Keely Arbuckle.
     Coach Lance Harvey noted that midfielders Addie Stottlemyre, Brooke Thomas and Laura Turner all played outstanding games and the defense played extremely solid in front of goalkeeper Brooke Jettleson. The win evens their record at 3-3. The Hornets will return to action in the semifinal game of the tourney with a match up against Liberty North on Friday at 6:45.
