Chillicothe's Lady Hornets softball team jumped out early and never
let up, beating Macon 11-2 on Senior Night. Chillicothe scored twice
in the first and twice in the third. Macon cut the lead in half with
two in the top of the fourth but Chillicothe answered with four in
the 4th and three more in the fifth.
The bats were hot for Chillicothe with 16 hits in the game:
Annie Turbyfill went 4 for 4, Erin Gilliland and Addie Stottlemyre
were 3 for 4, Sam Baldwin and Maura Sturguess were 2 for 4, and
Sarah Baldwin and Ashiah St Onge were 1 for 4.
Sarah Baldwin picked up the win for Chillicothe, allowing
two un-earned runs off four hits with five walks and 12 strike outs.
Chillicothe's six seniors were honored after the game. During their
career, seniors Sarah Baldwin, Brooke Doss, Phoebe Pyrtle, Ashiah St
Onge, Addie Stottlemyre and Annie Turbyfill have so far compiled a
record of 82-17 with three district championships.
