Cameron’s Mikey Richardson hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Dragons a walk off 2-1 win over Chillicothe on Saturday. The game was originally scheduled April 11th at Cameron but was rained out. With the season coming to a quick end, and the Hornet Baseball Classic being cancelled, both schools agreed to play the game at Shaffer Park in Chillicothe, but still considered Cameron the Home team in the contest.
Chillicothe scored in the top of the 4th inning but their 1-0 lead would be short lived. Cameron answered with a run in the bottom of the 4th. The defensive game stayed tied at 1 until the bottom of the 7th.
Troy Toedebusch had a strong outing at the plate for Chillicothe, going with distance. He struck out 12 of the 25 batters he faced. At the plate, Chillicothe picked up 6 hits but couldn’t turn them into runs. Ryan Smith had two hits, Tyler Long, Steven Cooper, Bobby Penniston and Derek Hussey all had one hit each.
Weather permitting; it will be a busy week for Chillicothe with home games Monday and Thursday and road games Tuesday and Wednesday.
