Touchdown

The Chillicothe Coaching Staff had their first good look at the 2012 edition of the Hornets Football team in the annual pre-season Jamboree, this year at Richmond. Each of the four teams had 12 continuous plays on Offense then 12 on Defense per team. There was no kicking or punting involved.
For the Hornets, there were positives and negatives as expected with a team that only has a handful of returning starters. Jr Quarterback Tyler Clampitt looked good, throwing a touchdown against Knob Noster as one of several completions. Jr Cole Nichols had a nose for the end zone, scoring against Knob Noster and Richmond.
In the first match-up, Chillicothe scored twice against Knob Noster on a 6 yard Cole Nichols run and a 35 yard pass from Clampitt to Walker Thomas. The Hornets defense held Knob Noster scoreless.
In the second match-up, Chillicothe and Smithville's Junior Varsity teams battled to

a scoreless tie. Chillicothe did have a pass catch and run to the end zone called back due to a penalty.
In the final scrimmage, Richmond scored on the 9th play on a 1 yard run. On the next play, the Chillicothe defensive secondary let a Spartan receiver get behind them, resulting in a 40 yard touchdown pass. The Hornets, on offense last, completed a 30 yard pass on the first play, and two plays later Nichols took it in from five yards out. Chillicothe had another pass into the end zone that bounced out of the receivers hands.
Chillicothe opens the season Friday against Marshall in the New Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium.
