Trenton used key free throws from Chase Tolson to beat the
Chillicothe Hornets for the first time since 2001, winning 54-46 in
Trenton. It marked Trenton's first win over Chillicothe since 2001
and just the second win over Chillicothe in 22 years, a span of 30
games.
The Hornets started slow with just five first
quarter points and trailed by eight at halftime. While the hornets
played well, their shots simply didn't fall, shooting 17 of 54
inside the arc and 2 of 16 from behind the arc, or 19 of 70 from the
floor for the game, according to the official statistics.
Even with the poor shooting, Chillicothe was still in
striking distance in the fourth quarter, but Tolson went 13 of 16 at
the line including 10 of 12 free throws in the final quarter. A
Trenton basket at the buzzer made it the 8 point gap as Trenton fans
rushed the floor to celebrate the extremely rare feat. |
