< Season Results>

From Coach Bob Long:
The Chillicothe boys' tennis team (8-5) hosted the Spoofhounds of Maryville, Monday, May 8 at Danner park. Maryville won the Benton tournament and had at least a share of second place in the conference regular season. Gabe Poling started the evening with a 8-1 win over Ben Goecken. Gabe Poling finishes the regular season with a perfect 13-0 singles record. Nate McKiddy played his fifth tie-break match and has now won four of the five. Nate beat Ian Macali, 9-8 (7-5). Garrett Peterson defeated Chris Dougan, 8-2. Garrett played a steady, mistake free match.
Nathan Sims beat Michael Filips 8-5. Brandon Lamp and Isaiah Barron lost 1-8 each to Tate Mattson and Michael Farlow respectively. Having won 4 of the 6 singles, the Hornets needed only 1 doubles victory. Brandon Lamp,
fresh off of injury, and Isaiah Barron lost the number 3 doubles 1-8. Shortly after the finish of the number 3 doubles, Gabe Poling and Nathan Sims sealed the Chillicothe victory, winning 8-1, against Macali and Filips. With the dual decided, Nate McKiddy and Garrett Peterson continued battling a see-saw match, eventually defeating Goecken and Dougan, 9-7.
Beating the Maryville squad was a great win. The Hornets finish the conference regular season 4-2, tied with Maryville. The win gives the Chillicothe squad a victory over all four district opponents. The district will be very competitive and the Hornets will have to play their best tennis to advance.
