Hornets came out sluggish and found themselves playing defense for
most of the first half against a skilled Lady Knights team. Lutheran
took the lead in the 28th minute when midfielder Joelle Hick pushed
a left footed shot past the Chillicothe defense and goalkeeper
Jaylene Sturguess. The half ended with Chillicothe trailing 1-0.

The Hornet offense began to wake up and started to put
pressure on the Lutheran defense which was able to bend but not
break on several occasions. In the 70th minute, Chillicothe forward
Karson Keithley was fouled on her way to goal. On the ensuing kick,
Junior midfielder Lindy Saunders notched her ninth goal of the
season with a low shot that scooted past the Lady Knights keeper.
Chillicothe kept up the offensive pressure with several attacks that
were sent out of bounds by the Lutheran defense. In a frantic final

Coach Lance Harvey praised keeper Sturguess for some
outstanding saves and lauded the girls for their competitiveness
throughout the game.
